YERMO, CA (Pain In The Pass) >> Two major accidents within 2 miles from each other. Both happened on Friday night at 6pm and 7pm October 4.

The 1st accident happened at 6:07pm, with California Highway Patrol and Cal Fire Department were called to the scene on the southbound side of I-15 at Yermo Road for a report of an accident involving a vehicle rolled over multiple times off the shoulder of the freeway into a ditch. For reasons still under investigation how the SUV lost control.

From the CHP traffic log there was a total of three people were inside the vehicle.

Two people were transported by two medevac helicopters. One was Mercy Air to Arrowhead Medical Center and the second one was a CHP helicopter to Loma Linda Medical Center. Both people having major head injuries.

Also an ambulance was dispatch to the scene for the third person with unknown injuries.

CHP had to temporarily blocked all lanes due to both helicopters landed on the freeway.

The SUV also damage about 60 feet of guardrail.

The 2nd accident happened just after 7pm, with California Highway Patrol and Cal Fire Department were called to the scene on the southbound side of I-15 at Minneola Road for a report of a multiple vehicle accident involving a Tesla car, a Range Rover SUV, a Toyota Corolla, and a big rig semi.

For reasons still under investigation how the accident happened. One vehicle went about 10 feet down a ditch in the center divider and the others were blocking the fast lane.

CHP issued a Sig Alert at 7:39pm for both sides of the 15 freeway. Southbound side was because of vehicles blocking the fast lane and the northbound side was because of a Medevac helicopter landed. The Reach Medical helicopter flew a person to Arrowhead Medical Center with head injuries.

Both incidents will be under investigation by the California Highway Patrol Barstow Office.

CHP says additional information will be updated as it becomes available.
