SAN BERNARDINO, CA (Pain In The Pass) >> A big rig semi trailer caught fire on southbound Interstate 15 Freeway just before Glen Helen Parkway in north San Bernardino, Thursday afternoon. Sending a thick black smoke cloud across the north-end of the valley that you can see for miles.

California Highway Patrol and San Bernardino County Fire Department were getting calls of a white big rig with a trailer attach on fire just before Glen Helen Pkwy. off ramp at 2:29pm April 23, 2020.

CHP and firefighters were on the scene and had to temporarily shut down all southbound lanes due to the gusty winds. With the smoke blowing across the freeway and while they worked on getting the trailer extinguished they kept lanes closed.

The truck driver did disconnected and save the tractor, before the trailer became fully engulfed.

No injuries were reported at the scene.

The cause of the big rig trailer fire is unknown at this time. There is a report it came from rear axles with tires on fire or the brakes on fire on the trailer.

CHP issued a SigAlert at 3:09pm for the 3 right lanes.
