Cummins engines company is issuing a major recall for a fuel heater defect that could result in a fire or a crash.
On March 31, 2020, Cummins issued a recall for 68,605 medium duty B6.7 engines for a fuel system issue that could cause plastic within the fuel heater to melt and catch fire. The defect could also cause an engine stall, which will make it disabled and could increase the chance of a crash.
After being informed of the issue by Cummins, Navistar issued two additional recalls of several models of International trucks and IC buses outfitted with the B6.7 engines. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration numbers for these recalls are 20V-219 and 20V-220.
Vehicles affected by the Navistar recall include:
- 2017 — 2020 International Workstar
- 2017 — 2020 International DuraStar
- 2018 — 2021 International MV
- 2018 — 2021 International HV

Navistar will supply Cummins with customer information so that they can notify truck owners with additional recall details.
