CAJON PASS, CA. (Pain In The Pass) >> A brush fire is burning west of Interstate 15 in the Cajon Pass Wednesday afternoon.

The fire started at 3:16pm on Wednesday July 29, 2020.

San Bernardino County Fire Department, CAL Fire, and US Department of Forestry were getting calls of a brush fire behind the train tracks close to Keenbrook Road off of Cajon Blvd old Route 66. 

The name of the brush fire is #BrookFire.

Update at 4pm 15-25 acres have burned with a rapid rate of spread with difficult access. High voltage power lines threatened.

Air resources assigned at this time.

This is a breaking news story.

UPDATE at 4:25pm Cajon Blvd/Route 66 is shut down between Kenwood Ave and Cleghorn Rd.

Update at 4:30pm the fire is 50 acres with a moderate ROS.

Update at 5pm Mountain Lakes a Resort is currently being evacuated.

The fire is currently not affecting Interstate 15, but lookie loos are slowing traffic down.

Update at 4:45pm the fire likely will stay less than 200 acres. Making good progress.

Update at 6:45pm the fire is less than 200 acre still making progress.

Due to more accurate mapping, the #BROOKFIRE is 185 acres, and 10% containment. There are still no evacuations at this time, however the road into Lytle Creek is only open to residents

Final Update the fire is 100% contained and controlled on Thursday 10pm.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
