PHELAN, CA. (Pain In The Pass) >> A total of three small brush fires broke out on Highway 138 Saturday afternoon.

All of the fires were reported about 12:17pm Saturday, April 10, 2021, all on Hwy 138 between Rockview Road and Hwy 2. San Bernardino County Fire Department, CAL Fire, and US Department of Forestry were getting calls of multiple small brush fires off of Hwy 138.

US Forest Service firefighters quickly were on scene on all the fires. They ask California Highway Patrol to closed one westbound lane as they work to extinguish the flames on the biggest fire.

Update at 1pm The forward rate of spread has been stopped on all three and the two biggest fires were approximately a quarter of an acre and one acre. A third small fire was put out by locals before fire department arrived.

Fire crews will be staffed through out the afternoon due to wind conditions on Hwy 138. The cause of the fires is under investigation.
