CAJON PASS, CA. (Pain In The Pass) >> A motorcyclist has died after a crash with a sedan in the Cajon Pass Sunday morning.

California Highway Patrol and firefighters from San Bernardino County Fire Department responded to the traffic accident. The accident was reported at about 4:14am, Sunday April 25, 2021, on northbound Interstate 15 about a mile before Oak Hills Road exit.

For unknown reasons the motorcycle rider and a black Ford Mustang made contact. This caused the rider and his bike to fall into the fast lane and in the #2 lane. According to the California Highway Patrol Traffic Logs, there was heavy fog in the Cajon Pass prior to the collision.

Despite life-saving rescue measures, firefighters and CHP officials said the rider was pronounced deceased at the scene. CHP temporarily shutdown all the lanes for the investigation. Then issued a SIG Alert for the two left lanes for about 2 hours. At 6:21am all lanes were re-opened.

This incident will be under investigation by the California Highway Patrol San Bernardino Inland Office. CHP says additional information will be updated as it becomes available. Please check back for updates on this incident.

The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Coroner Officer has identified the motorcyclist as  Alex Zwingmann, age 26, a resident of Apple Valley.
