BIG BEAR, CA. (Pain In The Pass) >> San Bernardino National Forest Fire crews are schedule a prescribed burn (under a controlled burn) in the Big Bear area in the San Bernardino National Forest Sunday morning if weather permitting.

Plans for prescribed burning ignitions to the southwest of Big Bear Lake are still moving forward for Sunday morning due to a delay due to weather last week. The location of the burn is north of Bluff Lake and the upper parts of the Castle Rock Trail, which will be closed to visitors.

If the weather conditions are safe for a productive control fire burn. The weather reports are predicted overnight relative humidity to be higher than Saturday and expected limit smoke dispersion into the communities, but resident and visitors should be aware the smell and see smoke may be noticeable.

Smoke and flames may be visible in and around the Big Bear area and on Highway 18 throughout the night. Please don’t call 911 to report smoke or flames in this area. Firefighter are there working. Thank you.
