CAJON PASS, CA. (Pain In The Pass) >> Flames from an engulfed RV motorhome spread to brush off the northbound Interstate 15 in Cajon Pass Tuesday afternoon.
The motorhome fire was reported at about 12:09pm Tuesday, May 4th, 2021. Located on Northbound Interstate 15 about a half mile after the Kenwood Avenue exit. San Bernardino County Fire Department, CAL Fire, and US Department of Forestry were getting calls of RV motorhome pulling a blue Ford Ranger on fire and the brush catching fire.
US Forest Service firefighters quickly were on scene. They asked California Highway Patrol to close three lanes as they worked to extinguish the flames. Type 3 engines along with additional aircraft have been requested for structure defense in the area of Mathews Ranch. Air Attack was called in also advising of the fire growing. A total of 3 airplane and one helicopter as of 1pm. The fire is about 20 acres and backing downhill with a potential for 100 acres.
As of 4pm a total of 42 acres burned.
The cause of the vehicle fire is under investigation.
