BIG BEAR, CA. (Pain In The Pass) >> San Bernardino National Forest Fire crews are schedule to prescribed burn (under a controlled burn) in the Big Bear area in the San Bernardino National Forest this weekend. Due to the change in cold weather this weekend. You may see smoke in the Inland Empire and in the Victor Valley area.
Fire crews are planning for 54 acres control burn off of Kidd Creek Road (2N86), between Castle Rock and Bluff Mesa south of Big Bear Lake. This builds and adds to recent work done in the area to create a fire buffer between the city of an incoming wildfire.
The earliest scheduled to begin Saturday morning through the night of May 22, if the weather conditions are safe for a productive a control fire burn. The weather reports are predicted this weekend for overnight relative humidity to be high with a chance of rain showers for Saturday and Sunday and expected limit smoke dispersion into the communities, but resident and visitors should be aware the smell of smoke in the area.
Smoke and flames may be visible from the Big Bear area and on Highway 18 throughout each day/night. Please don’t call 911 to report smoke or flames in this area. Firefighter are there working in the area. Thank you.
