BAKER, CA. (Pain In The Pass) >> Two big rig semi crash together, with one that caught fire this morning on northbound Interstate 15.

California Highway Patrol and firefighters responded to the traffic accident. The crash which occurred about 5:19 am, destroyed one semi truck and trailer. According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash happened about six miles north of city of Baker on northbound I-15. The other big rig semi driver involved in the crash was able to save the driver from the burning big rig, by pulling him to safety. This brought northbound lanes to a standstill for hours, CHP said.

When firefighter arriving at the scene to extinguished the fire. They has also requested one medical helicopters to transport the one person. Mercy Air transported the driver of the semi that rear-end in the back of the trailer to a local trauma hospital in unknown condition. The big rig driver that save the person from the burning semi had minor injury and was check out at a local hospital

At 8:23am the #1 lane was reopened. Then about 10:14am they open the middle lane and still blocked the slow lane for the clean up and the remove of the big rig tractor and trailer. At one point traffic was backup for 10 miles.

For reasons still under investigation, how the big rig rear-ended in the back of the trailer. The incident will be under investigation by the California Highway Patrol Barstow Office.
