BAKER, CA. (Pain In The Pass) >> A car caught fire on northbound Interstate 15 Freeway in the Baker grade Friday.
California Highway Patrol and San Bernardino County Fire Department were getting calls of a vehicle on fire on the right shoulder about 15 miles after Baker Boulevard exit. The car fire was reported about 5:30pm Friday, June 4, 2021 with flames coming from the engine compartment.
California Highway Patrol and firefighters were on the scene and had to temporarily shut down the slow lane, while they worked on getting the vehicle fire put out. CHP issued the slow lane closed for about a half a hour due to the clean up and removal of the car. The vehicle was reported to be a gray Kia Optima sedan.
Everybody did escape the vehicle before it became fully engulfed. No injuries were reported at the scene. The cause of the vehicle fire is unknown at this time. From reports the temperature was 110° this afternoon.
