CAJON PASS, CA. (Pain In The Pass) >> One person was killed and another person was injured in a rear-end crash Sunday morning on in the Cajon Pass, authorities said.
California Highway Patrol and San Bernardino County Fire Department responded to the crash. There were reported to be two vehicles involved in the rear-end crash. The two vehicles involved were reported to be a gray Toyota sedan and a sliver BMW sedan. The crash happened at about 3:57am Sunday July 25, 2021, on northbound Interstate 15 about two miles before the Oak Hill Road exit.
Stated on the CHP traffic log, the driver of the BMW rear-ended the Toyota sedan. The Toyota was reported to be driving slow in the slow lane for unknown reasons. the Toyota swerved in the path of the BMW. The driver of the BMV collided into the Toyota.
One of the drivers wa pronounced dead on the scene and the other driver was transported by ground ambulance to a local hospital unknown condition. CHP had temporarily blocked lanes for about 5 hours for the investigation. Investigators were not sure why the driver attempted to switch lanes suddenly before the crash. This incident will be under investigation by the California Highway Patrol San Bernardino Office. Please check for updates on this incident.
Update The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Coroner Officer identified the driver as Phillip Laurence Rincon, a 40-year-old resident of Rancho Cucamonga California.
