AFTON, CA. (Pain In The Pass) >> A semi-truck driver died in a single-vehicle crash along northbound Interstate 15 between the cities of Barstow and Baker on Thursday.
California Highway Patrol and firefighters from San Bernardino County Fire Department responded to the traffic accident. The crash happened Thursday afternoon at about 4:10pm on July 29, 2021. According to preliminary information from the CHP, the driver was driving a 53 foot trailer hauling 42,000 pounds of paper rolls when the semi overturned about 3 miles after the Clyde V. Kane Rest Stop on northbound Interstate 15 . It’s unknown what caused the rollover and sent the semi careening off the freeway about 50 feet on the right shoulder.
Despite life-saving rescue measures, officials said the driver was pronounced deceased at the scene. The investigation is ongoing. Those with information on the crash are encouraged you to call the CHP Barstow Office 760-255-5900.
