CAJON PASS, CA. (Pain In The Pass) >> A motorcycle burst into flames after colliding with a black sedan at the top of the Cajon Pass on southbound Interstate 15 Friday afternoon, California Highway Patrol said.
California Highway Patrol and firefighters from San Bernardino County Fire Department responded to the traffic accident. The accident was reported at about 3:06pm, Friday August 20, 2021. Southbound Interstate 15, about 2 miles after Oak Hill Road exit.
The CHP traffic log stated for unknown reasons the motorcycle rider and a black unknown sedan made contact. This caused the rider to been thrown from the bike, he slid to the right shoulder. His bike landed in the #3 lane, then burst into flames. CHP temporarily blocked the 2 right lanes for the cleanup and removal of the motorcycle.
The rider was transported by ambulance to Arrowhead Regional Medical Center Hospital in serious condition with severe road rash and burns to his body. This incident will be under investigation by the California Highway Patrol San Bernardino Inland Office. CHP says additional information will be updated as it becomes available.
