DEVORE, CA. (Pain In The Pass) >> Firefighters were battling a new brush fire miles away from the South Fire on Saturday morning.

It was first reported just before 11:23am in the area of Keenbrook Road and Cajon Boulevard old Route 66. With the fire in Lytle Creek about 5 miles away San Bernardino County Fire Department, CAL FIRE and US Forest Service firefighters were on scene quickly. The fire is quickly grew to about 10 acres with a moderate to rapid rate of spread in grass and chaparral.

This fire is the called the Roadside Fire. There is an immediate life and property threat. Mandatory evacuations are in effect for all residences and businesses off Cajon Blvd. between Keenbrook Rd. and Swarthout Canyon Rd. Cajon Blvd. is closed at this time. The fire is moving in the northwest direction towards Wrightwood, Phelan area of Lone Pine Canyon Road. The fire has jump the train tracks going in Swarthout Canyon now. Update at 12:30pm the fire is 25 acres.

Update at 1:30pm The fire is 50 acres with no containment.

Fire update at 2:30pm With the forward rate of spread stopped, hand crews will work on increasing line and hose lay around the fire’s perimeter. Containment of the 50-acre blaze remains at 0%.

7pm update the fire remains at 50 acres and 30% contained. All evacuation orders and road closures are lifted. Firefighters remain in the area and we ask that everyone slow down for their safety.

Reports of a white Chevrolet Trailblazer was on fire prior, then the brush catching fire. The Chevy may have been stolen. Still this fire is under investigation.
