VICTORVILLE, CA. (Pain In The Pass) >> Four people were transported to area hospitals after a three-vehicle crash on southbound Interstate 15 Wednesday afternoon.

The multiple vehicle crash happened on southbound Interstate 15 just after Stoddard Wells Road/Bell Mountain exit. It happened at approximately 12:31pm Wednesday afternoon in the north end of Victorville.

From the California Highway Patrol traffic log reports the vehicles involved were a white Hyundai Elantra 4 door sedan, a white Ford F-450 pickup truck pulling a 5th-wheel trailer and a big rig pulling a trailer.

A witness stated the white car had a tire blow out causing the vehicle to lose control and spin out in the traffic lane. A passing big rig couldn’t stop in time and slammed into the back of the car. Then a pickup truck pulling a 5th wheel had no place to go and crashed into the big rig sending both off into the dirt embankment on the shoulder of the freeway. The car landed in the right shoulder of the freeway.

A total of three people were transported by ground ambulance in unknown conditions to a nearby hospital. One person was transported by Reach Air Medical helicopter #13 to Arrowhead Regional Medical Center in Colton in critical condition. CHP had to close the slow lane for some time for the removal of the big rig and pickup truck pulling a 5th wheel trailer. This incident will be under investigation by the California Highway Patrol Victorville Office.
