HESPERIA, CA. (Pain In The Pass) >> A driver lost control of her SUV, hits and knocks down a utility pole which then triggered a road closure in Hesperia alongside Interstate 15 Friday afternoon.

Hesperia Police Department and firefighters from San Bernardino County Fire Department responded to the traffic collision. The crash happened at about 2:25pm Friday November 5, 2021, on Mariposa Road and Verde Street in the city of Hesperia. This resulted in lookie-loo traffic on Interstate 15.

Investigators said the woman was traveling north on Mariposa Road in a silver Honda Pilot when she swerved to miss hitting something in the road. She then lost control of her Honda, ran off the road and hit a utility pole. The collision broke a portion of the utility pole, causing it to break in half and power lines to fall onto the roadway. She was taken to an area hospital in unknown condition, Accord to theHesperia PD.

Mariposa Rd between Verde St. and Eucalyptus St. will be closed through out the evening and the night. The Hesperia Police Department will be investigating the collision.
