CAJON PASS, CA. (Pain In The Pass) >> Authorities responded to a fire involving two vehicles in the Cajon Pass Wednesday morning.
The crash happened at about 11:52am Wednesday January 12, 2022. The location of the collision was on northbound Interstate 15 about two miles before the Cleghorn Road exit. California Highway Patrol, San Bernardino National Forest Service and San Bernardino County Fire Department responded to the traffic crash involving two vehicles, a black Subaru Forester and a semi-truck.
The black Subaru Forester was reported to be speeding prior to the collision. The Subaru did hit the back of the semi trailer and went up in flames. A total of four people were inside the Subaru, they were able to get out. A total of three were transported by ground ambulance, all in unknown condition, to a nearby hospital. One person did declined medical transportation. The semi-truck driver was not injured and was able to detach the trailer before the trailer caught fire.
CHP had to close the slow lane for some time for the removal of the SUV and the trailer out of lanes. Firefighters did save the trailer, it only had burned brake lines.
