PHELAN, CA. (Pain In The Pass) >> A driver is dead after a three-vehicle crash Wednesday morning in Phelan on Highway 138.
The crash was reported about 6:19am on Wednesday January 19, 2022. It happened on Highway 138 about a half mile away from Highway 2 (on the Wrightwood/Phelan side of Hwy 138). At this time it’s unknown how or why the driver of the dark blue Ford F150 and the driver of the white big rig collided head-on. The third vehicle was reported to be Honda Odyssey mini-van that went down the embankment off of Hwy 138.
Despite life-saving rescue measures, firefighters and CHP officials said the driver of the Ford F150 was pronounced deceased at the scene. The other drivers conditions were not reported.
CHP investigators have not yet determined what caused the crash. This incident will be under investigation by the California Highway Patrol Victorville Office. CHP says additional information will be updated as it becomes available.
Also reported two additional crashes that were reported within 10 minutes apart and were close to the fatal crash scene. No injuries were reported in the other crashes.
