ONTARIO, CA. (Pain In The Pass) >> A car going the wrong way on Interstate 15 in the Ontario area crashed into the center divider guardrail and rolled over early Saturday morning.
The crash happened on the southbound lanes of Interstate 15 near the I-10 freeway about 3:07am Saturday March 12, 2022. California Highway Patrol said a black car possibly an SUV was reportedly turned around and was traveling northbound on the southbound I-15 lanes near Cantu-Galleano Ranch Road (toll-road area). The driver drove about 8 miles in the fast lane and in the center divider before it crashed into a guardrail head-on.
The collision left the car upside down, with debris from the wreck showering the traffic lanes, even hitting at least three passing vehicles. When CHP and Ontario Fire Department arrive they located two people unconscious inside the vehicle that was reported to be split in half.
Emergency responders were able to extract one person from the wreckage and took that person to a local hospital. There condition is unknown at this time. The Highway Patrol said one person was deceased at the scene and have not reported if its the driver or the passenger that was killed. We have learned the driver would be evaluated for possible DUI.
CHP blocked the three left lanes for over 3 hours for the investigation and clean-up. This incident will be under investigation by the California Highway Patrol Rancho Cucamonga Office. No further details have been provided at this time. Please check for updates on this incident.
