NEWBERRY SPRING, CA. (Pain In The Pass) >> Deputies say two people were killed and two were injured in a single-vehicle crash on southbound Interstate 15.
The crash happened at about 11:11am Friday April 8, 2022. The location was on southbound Interstate 15 at Mannix Wash bridge approximately 5 miles before Alvord Mountain Road. California Highway Patrol, and San Bernardino County Fire Department responded to the traffic crash involving a unknown dark colored sedan.
According to the California Highway Patrol Traffic Log, the sedan lost control at an unknown speed. The vehicle veered to the center divider and rolled-over multiple times, then off of the freeway landing under the freeway hitting the bridge. From reports four people were trapped.
Good Samaritans rendered aid and pulled the victims from the vehicle just before catching fire.
Rescue crews requested two helicopters to transport two with critical injuries. Firefighters rendered aid to the four people involved in the crash and reported two people deceased at the scene. Two people were transported by Mercy Air #66 and Mercy Air #2. Both helicopters airlifted them to Loma Linda University Medical Center in unknown condition.
CHP have not released a cause of the crash and did not identify any of the victims at this time. No further details have been provided at this time. This incident will be under investigation by the California Highway Patrol Barstow Office. Please check for updates on this incident.
