BAKER, CA. (Pain In The Pass) >> A crash killed at least two people on the Interstate 15 in the town of Baker Tuesday afternoon.

California Highway Patrol and San Bernardino County Fire Department responded to the traffic collision involving three vehicles. The accident was reported at 12:33pm, Tuesday July 19, 2022. The location was just after Kelbaker Road exit on northbound I-15. Three vehicles that were involved in the collision were a red sedan, a gray Ford Escape SUV, and a blue pickup truck.

Firefighters rendered aid to two adults that were reported to be unconscious and a child in a car seat that was ejected from the vehicle. Rescue crews requested a total of three medical helicopters to transport all with serious injuries. Firefighters called for Mercy Air #21, Mercy Air #24, and Mercy #66 to land at the scene. Also they called for multiple ground ambulances.

Sadly two of the medical helicopters were canceled just after 1pm when two were pronounced deceased at the scene. The third helicopter Mercy Air #66 airlifted one person to Sunrise Medical Center in Las Vegas in serious condition.

Four people were reported to be transported by ground ambulance to local hospitals.

The crash prompted a full freeway closure for northbound lanes for the investigation for about 3 hours. Vehicles were able to bypass the crash scene by using Baker Boulevard.

CHP has not released a cause of the crash. No further details have been provided at this time. This incident will be under investigation by the California Highway Patrol Barstow Office. Please check for updates on this incident.
