DEVORE, CA. (Pain In The Pass) >> A small brush fire that broke out in the town of Devore Thursday afternoon has burned about 2 acres, and threatening nearby homes.

The fire dubbed the Kenwood Fire was reported at about 2:50pm Thursday, September 1, 2022. The fire was located on Kenwood Avenue between Woodlawn Ave and Kimbark Ave. US Forest Service, CAL Fire, and San Bernardino County Fire Department firefighters were quickly on scene.

The fire was reportedly started by a vehicle fire and then spread to nearby mulch and wood piles which is hard to extinguish quickly.

The fire had consumed about 2 acres. At one point the fire could have potential for 50+ acres and did threating homes.

Crews were able to stop forward progress at roughly 4:30pm.

Firefighters will be remain in the area for mop-up operations for about a hour or so to make sure no hot spots flare up. California Highway Patrol and San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department had to closed Kenwood Ave. during the fire fight. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
