ONTARIO, CA. (Pain In The Pass) >> An overturned big rig carrying a full load of cans of oil and grease across Interstate 10 caused heavy traffic in Ontario Friday morning, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The crash was reported at about 7:09am on eastbound Interstate 10 just east of the I-15 freeway. The four of five lanes were blocked for hours.

A portion of the semitrailer broke away from the main trailer and was overturned across the freeway. CHP requested a SIG Alert and Caltrans to cleanup about 1,000 gallons of oil and grease on the roadway.

The semi driver was transported by ground ambulance to Kaiser Hospital in unknown condition and was later booked for driving a stolen semi.

At 2pm the 3 left lanes were reopened with over a 10 mile backup.
