Did You See The Glowing Lights In The Sky Near Stateline?

PRIMM, NV. (Pain In The Pass) >> Did you see a cluster of orange lights making its way up in the sky on Friday night? If so, you’re not alone, and no, its not Halloween lights.

Several people reported in the Pain In The Pass Facebook group that they saw a bunch of orange bright lights in the sky just after 7pm. They saw them for a few minutes before the lights seemed to burn out, leaving many to believe it was a military training exercise.

It was not a military training exercise, it was tens of thousands of sky lanterns being release in the night sky.

RiSE Festival in the Mojave Desert on Jean Dry Lake bed just 25 miles south of Las Vegas. The festival is a space away from the everyday. A naturally inspiring setting paired with entertainment, food, and artistic spaces. As the sun disappears, we will transition into the Fire and Lantern Ritual. Our host will guide you as you light your torch and lantern in time with the music and natural wonders of the transitioning night. This is one of the worlds largest sky lantern release.

You can write messages on the lanterns, often a wish, prayer, celebratory note or resolution before lighting them and sending them skyward.

They said the lanterns are 100% biodegradable and specially designed with a short burn and flight time. After the event they retrieve the biodegradable lanterns from the surrounding desert as well as any pre-existing litter that they find in the desert around Jean Dry Lake Bed. On average they find about 1-2 tons of pre-existing litter each year.
