VICTORVILLE, CA. (Pain In The Pass) >> A funeral procession was held for fallen Fire Captain Karl Hegle Thursday evening.
The community said farewell on November 3rd to San Bernardino County Fire Captain, who died from battling pancreatic cancer. The procession included numerous ambulances, fire trucks as well as law enforcement vehicles. The San Bernardino County, and Victorville Fire Department used multiple ladder truck to fly the American flag for the procession to drive under on multiple overpasses that started in Upland to Victorville.
Captain Hegle began his career in the fire department in 1995 with the California City FD and remained there until 2007 when he was hired by the Upland FD. He faithfully served that city up until 2017, when the San Bernardino County Fire Department took over the duties formerly performed by the Upland Fire Department. Karl Hegle was given the opportunity to minister to a new congregation in Wrightwood. Since 2017, he has been working as a firefighter at Station 14 in Wrightwood.
Everyone on our staff rallies around Karl Hegle and his family to support them in their battle against terrible illness. We will continue to make every day a gift for Karl and his family by working hard to achieve this goal. We are asking the communities that we serve to come alongside us as we move forward to provide Karl with comfort, strength, and healing.
Event for raising money in support of Captain Karl Hegle. Rescue Brewery is located at 167 North Second Avenue in Upland, California 91786. At 4pm to 9pm on Thursday November 17 with bagpipes and drums to appear at 6pm. The profits from the sells of beer are distributed to Captain Hegle and his family. In addition to the silent auction, there will be a raffle with a 50/50 split of the proceeds.
At this time there is no pubic info on the funeral service.
The San Bernardino County Fire Department said it appreciates the outpouring of support for the passing of one of its own.
