BARSTOW, CA. (Pain In The Pass) >>A pedestrian was hit and killed by a driver while walking in the slow lane on northbound Interstate 15 near the city of Barstow Thursday morning, according to California Highway Patrol.
The incident happened around 12:22am Thursday November 3, 2022 on the northbound Interstate 15 just after the Outlet Center Drive exit. According to the California Highway Patrol Traffic log, the pedestrian was walking in the slow lane of traffic. When CHP arrived on the scene, they found the pedestrian that was hit and found unresponsive in the #3 lane. With CPR efforts on scene failed, shortly after they pronounced the pedestrian deceased at the scene.
It was reported the motorist involved in the incident did remain on the scene and was cooperating with investigators. A big rig and a silver Toyota Corolla did stop to see if there was damage to there vehicles after hitting metal debris. There maybe more vehicles that hit the pedestrian.
We will update this story with more information when the CHP’s preliminary incident report is available. CHP also reported a white Mercedes-Benz S600 sedan at the top of the exit, this may have been the pedestrian vehicle. This incident is currently under investigation by the California Highway Patrol Barstow Office. Anyone with information regarding the incident is asked to call (760) 255-5900.
