SAN BERNARDINO, CA. (Pain In The Pass) >> A fire Thursday morning at a homeless camp in a small part of the Shandin Hills area spread to nearby brush destroying the camp.

The fire was reported about 5:57am Thursday February 16, 2023. The camp is located in the hill, which is behind the Cube Smart Self Storage center and south of Interstate 215 off of University Parkway.

The intense flames of the fire spread into nearby brush and burned less than a half of acre.

San Bernardino County Fire Department with multiple units responded to the fire and crews were able to stop the forward progress at roughly 15 minutes.

Firefighters did remain in the area for mop-up operations for about an hour and to make sure no hot spots flare up. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
