CAJON PASS, CA. (Pain In The Pass) >> A sliver sedan and a semi-tractor trailer collide late Wednesday night in the Cajon Pass on northbound Interstate 15.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision occurred on Interstate 15 about a mile before the Oak Hill Road exit at around 9:29pm Wednesday March 15, 2023. A Nissan four door, silver-colored sedan was traveling northbound on I-15 when he lost control and crashed into a semi. The Nissan then flipped over and caught fire. The vehicle was reported to be mangled and the roof partly ripped off.

The driver of the Nissan sustained unknown injuries. A good Samaritan did stop at the scene and pulled the driver out of the sedan. The good Samaritan called CHP with driver of the Nissan in his vehicle near the Ranchero Rd exit. He stated the driver of the Nissan had been drinking prior to the collision. The suspect was transported by ambulance to a nearby hospital to be check out and suspected of DUI.

Traffic was jammed for miles with the #4 and the slow lane blocked for about an hour. The driver of the semi was uninjured in the crash.

We will update this story with more information when the CHP’s preliminary accident report is available. Additional details were limited at this time. This incident will be under investigation by the California Highway Patrol Inland Office.
