BAKER, CA. (Pain In The Pass) >> A series of two wrecks on northbound Interstate 15 started in the morning on Thursday, snarling traffic for over 18 miles.

The first wreck was reported around 5:39am Thursday March 30, 2023 on northbound Interstate 15 about two miles before the Baker Boulevard exit with a silver/gray sedan rear-ended a semi tractor trailer. The sedan reported to become disabled in the slow lane. The semi reported did not stop, the driver probably didn’t feel the impact of the collision.

Shortly after 6:15am near the same spot they reported a semi hit a white vehicle. This cause the semi to overturned and blocked the slow lane. The white vehicle reported went through a fence landed about 100 to 150 feet off the roadway. The overturned semi was hauling about 70 thousand pounds of a unknown merchandise that needed to be off loaded before up-righted.

The California Highway Patrol said the crash caused a 18+ mile backup approaching the Midway Rest Stop. Caltrans and the tow company had one lane blocked for over 15 hours as of 9pm. At one point for about one hour they had both lanes blocked.

No major injuries were reported.

We will update this story with more information when the CHP’s preliminary accident report is available. Additional details were limited at this time. This incident will be under investigation by the California Highway Patrol Barstow Office.
