CAJON PASS, CA. (Pain In The Pass) >> Traffic is flowing again in the Cajon Pass after a semi truck caught fire in the northbound lanes Monday night.
The fire was reported around 7:47pm Monday April 24, 2023. California Highway Patrol, San Bernardino County Fire Department, and San Bernardino National Forest firefighters were getting calls of a white semi tractor on fire. The vehicle was located about a mile before the Oak Hill Road exit in the right shoulder.
California Highway Patrol and firefighters were on the scene and had to temporarily shut down the #3, #4 lane and the slow lane while they worked on getting the semi fire put out.
Traffic backup quickly and firefighters had the fire out in about a half of a hour. Everybody did escape the semi before it became fully engulfed. No injuries were reported at the scene.
The official cause of the vehicle fire is unknown at this time. The semi was hauling a full load of food in the trailer and was intact with no fire damage.
