CAJON PASS, CA. (Pain In The Pass) >> Traffic heading north on Interstate 15 came to a standstill after a crash near the top of the Cajon Pass late Tuesday night. (Photo above is credit by Jay De)

The collision was on the northbound side of Interstate 15 about a mile before Oak Hill Road exit. This happened about 10:25pm Tuesday on May 23, 2023.

California Highway Patrol and San Bernardino Fire Department received calls of a white Audi Q5 SUV that rolled-over in the Cajon Pass. The SUV was reported to have been clipped by a passing semi tractor trailer.

The driver of the Audi was reported to be speeding and swerving in and out of lanes prior to losing control hit a semi then rolled over in its roof. A white semi was not able to stop and hit the upside down vehicle. The male driver was able to get out the of Audi.

The Audi and the semi were blocking the #4 and #5 lane for over a hour waiting for the tow trucks to remove them out of lanes.

The Audi driver was transported by ambulance to a nearby hospital to be check out with a head injuries. The semi driver was not injured.

We will update this story with more information when the CHP’s preliminary accident report is available. Additional details were limited at this time. This incident will be under investigation by the California Highway Patrol Inland Office.
