It took less than two hours for fire crews to contain a fast-moving brush fire burning on northbound I-15 in the Mountain Pass area on Saturday July 29, 2023.
The San Bernardino County Fire Department said a white SUV caught fire at about 9:22am about 5 mile after Cima Road exit and the flames raced into the center divider and burning on the right shoulder.
The fire was contained as of 10:45am and crews were continuing to put out hot spots, the fire department said.
The California Highway Patrol provided traffic support and a Sig-alert was issued at 10:15am, closing all northbound lanes for about a hour.
The occupants of the burning vehicle were able to get out safely. No injuries were reported and no structures were threatened.
