SAN BERNARDINO, CA. (Pain In The Pass) >> Firefighters quickly control a small brush fire that broke out in next to train tracks in the Cajon Pass Tuesday afternoon. (Photo above is credit by Cisco.)
The Track Fire was reported at about 4pm Tuesday, August 29, 2023. The location of the fire was south of Cajon Boulevard and Kenwood Avenue in the Cajon Pass. San Bernardino County Fire Department, San Bernardino National Forest firefighters and CAL Fire firefighters were quickly on scene.
By 5:30pm the fire had forward progression stopped at about 2 and a half acres burned. Firefighters will remain in the area for mop-up operations though the evening/night to make sure no hot spots flare up.
The freeway or structures was never affected by the flames or the smoke. It looks to be a spark by a passing freight train. The cause of the fire is under investigation at this time.
