BARSTOW, CA. (Pain In The Pass) >> A group of exotic luxury sports cars were stopped by California Highway Patrol in Barstow Friday afternoon, making for a rather astonishing sight for bystanders traveling on Interstate 15.
A Pain In The Pass Facebook group member stated they were driving on northbound Interstate 15 Friday late morning early afternoon when they seen about 10 sports cars pass us at a good high speed. One went by us going about 100+mph passing multiple vehicles.
The group of sports cars were from the NU Rally Group, they consist primarily of various Lamborghini, Porsche, BMV, and Ferrari models but also included Nissan GT-Rs, Ford Mustangs and Mercedes-AMG GT S.
California Highway Patrol posted this on Friday.
“Speed Enforced by Aircraft” signs are posted upon various highways in California and today, October 13, 2023, several drivers learned that speeding is not the only traffic violation enforced by CHP aircraft. A total of three drivers were arrested by CHP officers of the Victorville Area and Barstow Area offices for allegations of reckless driving on Highway 247 near the City of Barstow and the community of Lucerne Valley after CHP dispatchers received 911 reports of a pack of exotic sportscars driving recklessly.
A CHP helicopter located and tracked the sportscars for several miles until CHP ground units could get into position at which time multiple traffic stops were made and the three drivers arrested. A firearm was also located by a deputy of the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department who conducted a traffic stop on one of the vehicles.
The CHP takes reports of reckless driving very seriously and anyone witnessing reckless driving is urged to call 911.
A Pain In The Pass group member reports that one of the cars was towed away in the Cajon Pass. It was a red Ferrari F8 Tributo and was given a citation, also a night in jail. It’s unknown if the Ferrari was impounded for 30 days.
Some of the cars pulled over included Lamborghini, Porsche, Ferrari, and a Ford Mustangs. CHP had 9 total pulled over on northbound I-15 at Dale Evans Parkway offramp around 9:15am. At this time its unknown who received citations.
The group of vehicles were on their way to Las Vegas for a meet for the weekend.
