MOUNTAIN PASS, CA. (Pain In The Pass) >> Two people were airlifted after a Wednesday afternoon crash on northbound Interstate 15 that backed up traffic for a little more than an hour. Photo above is credit by Matthew Sheble.
Calls went out a little after 1pm October 18 on Wednesday afternoon for the accident involving a vehicle that rolled over and a vehicle that was speeding prior to the collision. The crash happened on northbound I-15 about two miles after Halloran Spring Road exit.
A red Honda Civic that rolled over, landed in the center divider by the first arriving CHP officers and firefighters. The other vehicle was reported to be a brown Dodge Charger that was speeding and driving reckless prior to the collision. Rescue crew rendered aid to the people involved in the incident. Rescue crews requested multiple medical helicopters to transport all with unknown injuries. They said, a 5 year-old child was bleeding and a male was unconscious.
Two people were flown by two Mercy Air Medevac helicopters from the crash scene to a local trauma hospital. Mercy Air Medical helicopter #7 and #21 flew them to Las Vegas University Medical Center with unknown injuries.
Traffic was halted for northbound motorists until a little after 2pm when officials opened one lane of the interstate, CHP said.
