CAJON PASS, CA. (Pain In The Pass) >> California Highway Patrol arrested a suspect believed to be involved in the shooting that happened on northbound Interstate 15 Friday morning.

The shooting occurred just before 11 am on Friday, December 15, 2023, on northbound I-15 near Kenwood Avenue truck bypass exit.

The suspect in a black Dodge Ran pickup truck drove alongside the victims white Lexus sport coupe and shot through the victim’s window. Both the driver and the passenger were struck by gunfire.

One person sustained a gunshot wound to the chest, and the other person was struck in the arm.

Following the shooting, the victims pulled there vehicle in the northbound truck scales in the middle of the Cajon Pass. It was reported that two helicopters landed near the scene to transport the both the victims to a local trauma center.

The California Highway Patrol requested a closure of the northbound 15 lanes at Kenwood Avenue, for an investigation for about an hour. 

CHP connected the suspect of the shootings based on vehicle and suspect descriptions by witnesses. The suspect description was reported to be a black male adult with tattoos and the vehicle description was a black Dodge Ram pickup truck. CHP stopped the truck matching the description in the city of Barstow on I-15 and detained two suspects.
