APPLE VALLEY, CA. (Pain In The Pass) >> Suspect flees from deputies during attempted traffic stop in Apple Valley and is apprehended after crashing into Interstate 15 center divider in Victorville.

On Sunday, January 14, 2024, at approximately 12:50am, an off-duty Sheriff’s employee in an unmarked department vehicle saw a vehicle doing 360 burnouts near the intersection of Wabisi Road and Mondamon Road in the Town of Apple Valley.

The employee activated lights and sirens and attempted to conduct a traffic stop on the vehicle. The vehicle drove away from the area at a high rate of speed and the off-duty employee followed and notified Sheriff’s dispatch. The driver continued to drive at a high rate of speed into Victorville and onto the I-15 freeway.

Deputy E. Mendoza was able to enter the I-15 freeway ahead of the suspect and conducted a traffic break maneuver to slow the vehicle. The driver of the vehicle, later identified as Daniel Eduardo Garcia,19-year-old male of Apple Valley, crashed into the center divider of the freeway, and was taken into custody without incident. 

Daniel Eduardo Garcia was arrested for VC 2800.2(a), felony failure to yield and was transported to High Desert Detention Center for housing, where he is being held in lieu of $100,000 bail.
