BAKER, CA. (Pain In The Pass) >> Two people are killed and three people are airlifted after a fatal multiple vehicle collision on Interstate 15 Friday morning.

The collision occurred about 4:11am on January 19, 2024. The crash location was about 6 miles north of the town of Baker on northbound I-15.

According to California Highway Patrol and the San Bernardino County Fire Department says the crash between a white Budget rental truck possibly hauling a vehicle or trailer and two other vehicles were involved in the crash, the CHP said. Also, one of the vehicles caught on fire after the collision.

Recuse team responded to the scene and reported they had a total of six people involved, two of them were pronounced deceased at the scene. They rendered aid to the people involved in the incident. Rescue crews requested a total of 3 medical helicopters to land at the scene to transport the injured people. 

One person was transported from the scene by Mercy Air #30 helicopter to Loma Linda University Medical Center. The other two helicopters Mercy Air #21 and #24 helicopters transported from the scene to Las Vegas University Medical Center. All the people transported had major injuries. 

All northbound lanes were reopen by 7am with traffic backup for miles.
