CAJON PASS, CA. (Pain In The Pass) >> Three people were rescued from a flooded road in the Cajon Pass early Monday morning.

San Bernardino County firefighters Swift-Water Crews responded to the water rescue around 3am at Keenbrook Road and Cajon Boulevard after the vehicle attempted to cross a flooded roadway.

A father, mother and daughter were able to escape their Chevrolet Tahoe hauling a box trailer vehicle and climb up a tree to escape rising waters from Cajon Creek and called 911, according to San Bernardino County Fire.

Firefighters arrived to find a dangerous current and almost no access to the tree.

First, Sherwin said, they launched an inflatable boat, but they were unable to anchor it. So two tethered firefighters entered the water. They made it to the family and strapped them to their bodies.

The rescuers placed themselves between the current and the victims and walked them to safety.

All three were taken to the hospital and are being evaluated for hypothermia.
