CAJON PASS, CA. (Pain In The Pass) >> A very strong Pineapple Express/atmospheric river combine with a cold winter storm that will pass over Southern California. The rain showers and snow showers will continue to move north eastward early Saturday morning bring brief heavy downpours at times. Isolated thunderstorms are possible Saturday and Sunday. Saturday will be the heaviest day of rainfall. Sunday will be scattered rain showers through out the day. Pop-up thunderstorms will have a good chance on Sunday for the Inland Empire Valleys.

This means there is a good chance of flooding and mudslides are possible this weekend for all areas.

Timing of the storm for the Inland Empire and the Cajon Pass. Light rain shower could start around 12am – 3am Saturday morning with heavy fog in the Cajon Pass. Heavy rainfall will be after 3am. Scattered rain shower around 5pm into Sunday. The Cajon Pass could get about a 2 to 3+ of a inches of rain total. The IE could get about a 1 to 2+ inches of rain total. There is a chance or two of thunderstorms each day. There no chance of heavy snow fall at the top of the Cajon Pass.

Timing of the storm for the High Desert. Light rain to heavy showers may start around after 1am-3am. The desert cities could get about a ½ of inch to 1½+ inch of rain total. There is a chance of a thunderstorm or two each day. Strong Gusty winds on Saturday with gusty up to 50 mph.

Timing of the storm for Wrightwood Mountains. Winter Storm Warnings. Snow showers may start around 12am-3am. Snow level will be down to 6,000 ft. then drop around to 4,000 ft on Saturday night into Sunday. Wrightwood could get about a 2 to 3+ inches of rain total. Wrightwood could get 6 to 12+ inches snow total. Strong Gusty on Saturday with gusty up to 55 mph.

The Mountain Pass Area near Stateline CA/NV. Mountain Pass on Interstate 15 is elevation: 4,200 feet. This storm should not close the roadway this weekend, but be aware the snow-level can bring some snow over the weekend, along with black ice.  Mountain Pass, between the town of Baker CA and Stateline Primm NV on I-15. Ice and snow this weekend, but accumulation will be minimal.

Remember to SLOW DOWN in the rain or in the ice/snow. Remember you can not see black ice on the roadway.

Another storm is expected to move into the region on Friday, which is expected to be much lighter but warmer.
