The collision occurred about 1:44pm on Saturday March 30, 2024. The crash location was about 4 miles before the Halloran Spring Road exit on northbound I-15.

According to California Highway Patrol and the San Bernardino County Fire Department says the crash between a black Mercedes-Benz GLE-350 SUV and a gray SUV possibly a Kia or Hyundai that were involved in the crash, the CHP Traffic Log said.

It was reported the Mercedes-Benz collided head-on with another SUV after veering from the southbound side into the northbound side collided head-on with the other SUV.

Recuse team responded to the scene and reported they had two of them were pronounced deceased at the scene. It’s reported to be two children. They rendered aid to the people involved in the incident. Rescue crews requested a total of 5 medical helicopters to land at the scene to transport the injured people.

One person was transported from the scene by Mercy Air #22. Mercy Air #66 transported one person. The other two helicopters were a CHP Air #82 and a Reach Air Medical #43 helicopter. All the patients were transported to Antelope Valley Medical Center with major injuries. One of the patients were a 3-year-old child with a severed arm.

One helicopter was canceled for the mother of the children, a 40-year-old woman, was possibly paralyzed from the collision. She was transported to Barstow Community Hospital with unknown conditions.

A third person was rushed for emergency treatment but died enroute to Barstow Community Hospital.

Fire department said, four people suffered critical injuries while three others suffered fewer than major injuries. With radio traffic this number may not be 100% correct.

For reasons still under investigation, CHP said. The driver of the Mercedes-Benz crossed the center median into the path of a gray unknown SUV, which it struck head-on on northbound lanes.

Weather and speed could be a factor in the collision. All northbound lane were blocked for hours as they rescue the injured and for the investigation. CHP open the fast lane at 5:30pm, the traffic was backed up over 10 miles at one point.
