Heavy rain showers came in over the Mountain Pass and Stateline area around 12pm April 24, 2024. The first crash was reported about 12:43pm near Yates Road on Interstate 15. The vehicles involved in the collision were two unknown sedans and a white Ford F-250 pickup truck pulling a toy hauler trailer. The Ford and the toy hauler became jackknifed in the fast lane.
The second crash was an Amazon semi tractor trailer made contact with a pickup truck, then became jackknife blocking all the traffic lanes just before the Bailey Road exit on northbound I-15 around 1:32pm.
No injuries were reported in both incidents. Traffic was backed up for several miles for the weekend commute.
No cause of the crashes was revealed by authorities, but the freeway was reported to be wet and slick as the heavy rain came down after noon.
