San Bernardino County Sheriff-Coroner has ID the driver of the Nissan as 39-year-old Frances Bustillos, of San Bernardino.

The crash happened around 1:23pm on Wednesday May 8, 2024, on southbound I-215 freeway just under the 210 Freeway. According to the California Highway Patrol, A white Nissan Versa reportedly lost control after a vehicle cut them off, unexpectedly stopped in the middle of the freeway and as a result was hit from behind by a Freightliner Box Truck. Due to the impact, the Nissan ran straight into the guardrail. The third vehicle had some damage.

CHP officers and firefighters from San Bernardino County Fire Department responded to the traffic accident. On the traffic log stated the driver of the Nissan was reported to be unresponsive and the passenger barely breath, both were trapped in the wreckages.

Firefighters rendered aid to the injured party. Frances Bustillos was pronounced deceased on scene and the passenger was transported to a local hospital with undisclosed injuries.

No other injuries were reported.

This incident will be under investigation by the California Highway Patrol, Inland Office.
