RIALTO, CA. (Pain In The Pass) >> A motorcycle rider was killed when a tire carcass came off of a trailer eastbound 210 Freeway Thursday morning, according to authorities.

At about 7:38am July 25, California Highway Patrol officers and rescue teams responded to the area of eastbound 210, at Pepper Avenue, for a report of crash involving a motorcycle according to the CHP.

Authorities also said an Amazon semi tractor-trailer was parked on the right shoulder of the freeway just after the Pepper Ave. offramp with a flat tire.

As the motorcycle was passing in the #1 lane and the HOV lane, the tire carcass reportedly broke off from the semi tractor-trailer and crashed into the motorcycle, according to the CHP.

The rider was ejected from the motorcycle and crashed into the roadway along the 210 freeway. The CHP said the motorcycle rider who was wearing a helmet, suffered fatal injuries in the crash and was pronounced dead at the scene.

It’s reported the motorcyclist was possibly a female. The identity of the rider is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
