The Pole Fire, as it was called, was reported shortly before 4:30pm on Tuesday July 30, 2024, in the Marianna’s Hills area of Apple Valley, according to the Apple Valley Fire Department reports.

The fire moved downhill toward residents quickly with the help of afternoon winds.

As of 6pm, the fire has burned an estimate of 200 acres and said the fire was slowed by fire retardant line. At the same time San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department issued an Evacuation Warning for East Central Road, West of Cerra Vista Street, and south of Roundup Way in Apple Valley.

Update at 8:15pm the fire is 350 acres burned from Air Attack mapping.

Fire crews will remain at the scene to dousing hot spots throughout the night and Wednesday morning.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
