HESPERIA, CA. (Pain In The Pass) >> A seven acre brush fire was quickly contained by firefighters Sunday afternoon off of Highway 173. (Photo above is credit by Mario Urroz.)
The fire dubbed the Silver Fire was reported just before 3pm Sunday, September 29, 2024. The located of the fire was on Highway 173 near the Silverwood Lake Dam entrance in the city limits of Hesperia.
3:25pm the fire jump Hwy 173 with help of afternoon winds at a moderate rate of spread.
With the help of two air tankers and three helicopters the fire was stopped at 7 acres at 4:15pm.
Firefighters will remain in the area for mop-up operations make sure no hot spots flare up. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
