HESPERIA, CA. (Pain In The Pass) >> The very last part of the Ranchero Road Widening Project is about to start Monday October 14 and last at least 10 months.
The widening project on Ranchero Road which spans through San Bernardino County and parts of the City of Hesperia for 5 miles. This is the last project (Phases) of three. The other two improvements that have occurred along Ranchero Road over several years. The Railroad under-crossing bridge by Santa Fe Ave. and the Interstate 15 Ranchero Rd bridge were the first two phases.
Beginning on Monday October 14, 2024, Ranchero Road will be closed between Seventh Avenue and Cottonwood Avenue as crews demolish the bridge over the California Aqueduct, cutting off ALL travel across the aqueduct. A hard road closure will also be in effect at Kern Avenue and Eleventh Avenue, where the aqueduct crosses Ranchero Road. Residents within the closed section will still have access to their homes, but no vehicles will be able to pass over the aqueduct.
This project is expected to last for at least 10 months or around July or August 2025*, while a new bridge with two lanes in each direction is constructed.
Detours will be posted. Motorists are advised to use Main Street or Summit Valley Road to connect to Hwy 138 for access to the I-15 Freeway.

The total cost of the phases three project is estimated at $64.1 million, with the City of Hesperia responsible for $37 million. The county and the San Bernardino County Transportation Authority are expected to cover the remaining costs.
