BAKER, CA. (Pain In The Pass) >> Drivers planning to travel on Interstate 15 between Southern California and to Las Vegas/Stateline on Thursday night, November 7, until Friday mid morning should be aware there will be planned power outages that will impact a 90-mile stretch of the freeway between the town of Baker and the Mountain Pass area in California.
The outage will span 90 miles from Rasor Road to Halloran Summit Road on I-15, along with portions of Highway 127 in Baker. The start time will be Thursday 11pm until Friday at 6am**.
The outage will affect the stretch of Interstate 15 between Halloran Summit Road and Rasor Rd., as well as a pocket of north Highway 127 in the town of Baker heading towards Death Valley. See map below.
“During the outage periods, services such as food establishments, gas stations, and electric vehicles charging ports around Baker will not be available. Travelers are strongly urged to plan their journeys accordingly, considering the limited amenities during this time,” the news release stated.
There will be signs alerting drivers of the planned outage via overhead signage on I-15 northbound towards the town of Yermo, and southbound toward Stateline.
The Nevada Department of Transportation (NDOT) and Southern California Edison (SCE) said the planned outage is necessary for reliability upgrades.
