According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident happened at around 4:40am on December 1, 2024, when a car drove off the side of southbound lanes of Interstate 15 and went down the embankment about a mile before the Kenwood Avenue exit.

The vehicle went off the freeway and landed about 500 feet down the embankment San Bernardino County Fire said.

One person had to be rescued from the vehicle using a high angle rescue rope technique.

The driver did report to have minor injuries.

CHP and multiple tow trucks were blocking the slow lane to recover the vehicle.

It wasn’t immediately determined what may have caused the crash. We will update this story with more information when the CHP’s preliminary accident report is available. Additional details were limited at the time. This incident will be under investigation by the California Highway Patrol, Inland Office.
